I already use a moisturizer! Why add a serum?
I don’t believe in adding more products to your skin care routine than needed, so you might be wondering why I’ve added serums to my line!
First off, I use them all the time! Why? Because serums are liquid tonics that are packed with vitamins, anti-oxidants and ingredients that contain active properties that target specific concerns. If there’s something specific you want to work on, serums are an easy way to add some extra oomph to your routine!
Secondly, serums are formulated to penetrate deep into your skin so they can heal and target specific concerns. They are able to penetrate deeper than moisturizers and can help restore skin to a balanced state. Plus, they are non-comedogenic, so no need to worry about clogged pores or a greasy residue.
Although serums can be moisturizing, their main purpose is to add nutrients deep into your skin that a moisturizer isn’t able to reach and keep the hydration levels in your skin stable. Having said that, keep your moisturizer in your routine! Applying your moisturizer after you apply a serum, will lock the serum into your skin allowing the serum to do its best work without evaporating into the air.

Key Ingredients
- Calendula Extract: This plant extract is derived from the marigold family and is known in skincare for its ability to be a strong anti-inflammatory thanks to the rich flavonoids this plant is packed with. The combination of oils and acids in this extract are also famous for being fantastic antibacterial support for the skin, keeping acne causing bacteria and others at bay.
- Carrot Seed Oil: This oil is not jam-packed with antioxidant support for your skin. The carotenoids fight free radicals which help prevent signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. Carrot oil also helps regulate sebum production to help those with both dry and oily skin. As an added bonus this natural oil helps improve tone and texture for a more radiant complexion.
- Castor Oil: This oil is extracted from the castor bean found predominately in Africa and India. It is easily absorbed by the skin, which is why it’s a popular ingredient in natural skin care. Castor oil delivers major anti-inflammatory relief for those who suffer from breakouts and other skin conditions caused by inflammation. It also contains high quantities of ricinoleic acid, which is a known as acne bacteria fighter.
- Chamomile Extract: This floral extract is used in natural skin care products to help ease irritation from skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne and dry, rosacea, and flaky skin. Similar, yet less concentrated than an essential oil, hydrosols are easily absorbed by the skin to deliver ingredients deep into the skin where it’s needed most.
- Jojoba Oil: This moisturizer is like a second skin…. Literally. Jojoba oil is like our natural sebum’s identical twin and helps replenish the essential fatty acids needed to repair and protect our lipid barrier.
- Licorice Extract: This extracted syrup from the root of a licorice plant is well known for its abilities to aid in the evening of skin tone and improve skin’s elasticity. Thanks to its high levels of antioxidants, it has also been proven to help in the healing process and inflammation of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. For those suffering from oily skin, Licorice Root can help to regulate the skin’s oil production.
- Macadamia Oil: This nut oil is rich in Omega 6 and Phytosterols which help to restore our skin’s natural barrier that holds moisture and hydration in our skin; this is especially good for mature skin as this barrier tends to weaken as we age. The Oleic Fatty Acid boosts our skins ability to regenerate new cells slowing down the aging process.
- Rose Hydrosol: This floral water isn’t new to the skincare world. It’s been used to years thanks to its ability to help regulate our skin’s oils. Whether you have dry or oil skin, this can help balance your sebum production. Rose hydrosol is also beneficial for those who are prone to acne breakouts, as it contains gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The vitamin C in this ingredient makes it a natural, toning ingredient for a brighter, smoother complexion.
- Rosehip Oil: This extract provides needed hydration to the skin. Vitamin E helps prevent the damaging effect of UV rays which age our skin at a rapid pace. Omega fatty acids help repair damaged skin cells to reduce the appearance age spots and hyperpigmentation.
- Vitamin E: A powerful antioxidant that helps protect your skin from damaging toxins and free radicals from pollution, drugs, or UV light (the sun). Vitamin E also reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also plays a huge role in many of my products because it helps keep ingredients from being oxidized and turning rancid.
